Typical Nora
- Answers before she has finished thinking
- Says yes and is then expected in two places

- The left eyebrow goes up
- Cries in the car, never in front of people
- Can change a fuse and never mentions it
- Two alarms and ten minutes of silence
- Laughs at herself first
Nora is seventeen. She is the kind of person who answers before she has finished thinking, and then spends the evening working out whether she meant it. She is not loud to be seen. But when something is unfair she cannot keep her mouth shut, and she has learned that this costs something.
Her head is at its fullest between eleven and one at night. Conversations from today, a list for tomorrow, one question she hasn't asked anyone. She doesn't write any of it down. She runs instead, three to five kilometers in the evening, until it goes quiet. At home she says the three things that can wait until tomorrow out loud, into the dark. It works four nights out of seven.
She wants to decide for herself who she becomes. She also wants the people she loves to be proud of her. Most of her stories live in the gap between those two sentences.
She is learning that being honest does not always mean saying everything immediately. And that listening can be just as brave as speaking up.
I'm not arguing. I just have another question.
Nora
Okay. Now what?
Nora
Wait. Again.
Nora
You say that now.
