Head full?
It's eleven at night and your head has 27 tabs open. Today's conversation, tomorrow's list, one question you haven't asked anyone. You are not broken. You are full.
What a full head actually is
A full head is not a fault in the system. It is what happens when a day had more in it than you could sort on the way. School, chats, one sentence that stuck, fear of a decision that isn't even due yet. At night, when nothing distracts you, it all arrives at once.
Being overwhelmed is a state, not a diagnosis. It passes faster when you name one thing, not all of them.
Nora's three things
Nora runs in the evening, three to five kilometers, until her head goes quiet. And she has a ritual that works four nights out of seven: she says the three things that can wait until tomorrow out loud, into the dark. Not writing them down, not solving them. Just saying them and giving them a place.
Try it tonight. Three things. Out loud. If you only get to two, it is still a start.
The four boxes
If one thing can't wait, take a sheet of paper and four boxes: What happened? What do I think about it? What do I know for sure, and what am I only guessing? Which next step is mine? The third box is the one that matters. Most full heads are made of guesses.

The phone, sleep and the feed
The phone next to the bed isn't a moral problem, it's a practical one: every flash opens a new tab. Nora leaves hers in the kitchen when she studies and wears a watch instead. What you do with yours is your decision. Make it on purpose, not out of habit.
When it is more than a full head
If your head has been full every night for weeks, if you can't get up in the morning, if food or friends stopped being fun, that is not a case for a website. It is a case for a person. The helplines on our help page listen, free and confidential. Using them is not failing. It is the next step.
FAQ
Is it normal that my head is full at night?
Yes. Almost everyone knows it, especially in times with a lot of new things. Normal doesn't mean you have to put up with it; the three things and the four boxes help most people.
Why is my head full in the evening of all times?
Because during the day school, friends and the phone distract you. Evening is the first quiet moment, and everything that piled up reports in at once.
Does writing it down really help?
For many people, yes, because a thought on paper doesn't have to run in circles any more. Nora prefers saying her three things out loud; it works in a similar way.
What is the difference between a full head and anxiety?
A full head is temporary and belongs to the day. Fear that stays for weeks and runs your daily life is something else; then talk to someone who knows about it.
