ELSEWISE for adults

For parents & educators.

ELSEWISE is made for young readers. We know the adults around them often want to understand what they are reading and using. Here is how we approach our work.

Our approach

We use stories, characters and open questions rather than one-size-fits-all answers. Our aim is to encourage reading, reflection and respectful conversation while leaving room for young people to form their own views.

Our themes are friendship, identity, family, everyday values, decisions and practical life skills such as money. Some stories touch on difficult emotions or situations. Where needed, a short note comes first, and our help page lists numbers that listen.

We are old-fashioned about some things: manners, keeping your word, saying thank you out loud. Our values come from a family shaped by the Christian faith. We do not preach them, we show them. Everyone is welcome here.

Using ELSEWISE together

You do not need to turn every story into a lesson. Sometimes reading it together is enough. If a conversation starts, try asking what the characters might have been thinking, what other choices were possible and what the young reader noticed that you did not.

Every story ends with a question and two points of view. Both work at the kitchen table as well as in class.

Products and age guidance

The ELSEWISE brand carries no age. Each product on flitch.fun does: a suggested age, the language, the format and a clear content description. Age recommendations are guidance, not a substitute for your own knowledge of the young person using the material.

Data

This site has no account, no comments, no messages and no tracking. We do not collect data from young people and do not ask for it. Downloadable files are only available on flitch.fun.

A note on wellbeing

ELSEWISE is a storytelling and educational project. It does not provide medical care, diagnosis, counselling or crisis support. If a young person needs immediate or ongoing help, please turn to a qualified professional or an appropriate local service. The most important free numbers are on our help page.
