Leo 15

  • 15 years
  • 11 on my sleeve
  • 1 city nobody gets to see

Loud on the court, quiet at the drawing desk. Acts fast and is learning to look twice.

„Looks different from here.“

What I like

  • Stairwells with light falling in
  • The court by the park, even alone
  • Building whole cities on the computer
  • Movies, best seat in the middle
  • My dad's lasagna
  • Looking at houses with Grandpa that he built
  • A play that works exactly the way I drew it
  • John, when he slows me down

What I don't

  • Someone looking at my sketches without asking
  • Losing, especially by a little
  • AI pictures that don't know where the light comes from
  • Cities taking away benches
  • Waiting for a reply
  • People laughing at someone who isn't there
  • Energy drinks
  • Myself, when I was too quick

Typical Leo

  • Sometimes shoots too early, on the court and in life
  • Frames buildings with his fingers
  • Measures rooms in steps
  • Spins his pencil like a ball
  • Talks about buildings when he's nervous
  • Apologizes late, but all the way
  • Secretly sketches people on the bus
  • Takes the stairs two at a time

On the basketball court, Leo decides in a split second. He's fast, loud, hits from way outside and high-fives everyone. At the drawing desk he's a different person: he can sit for hours over a single perspective, a stairwell, a bridge, a street corner. He shows his drawings to almost no one.

His mom runs big construction sites, and his older brother Elias was a basketball talent himself until his knee gave out. Sometimes Leo wonders whether he wants to be an architect or an athlete. Mostly, though, he just wonders why he shot too early again. And since the exhibition, he wonders what Mila actually saw.
